About: I have a lot of background caring with pets because my family has always had various kinds of pets. Also, my family had a pet care facility that has given me experience in pet care. I’ve dealt with many puppies and young animals in my life, so if you have young pets, I got you! I can’t count how many times I have had to bathe and groom my own or other people’s pets. I would love to care for your pet(s)!!! I work remotely part-time, so I have a lot of time to care for your pet & would love to do so! I also have a dog and a friend’s that I care for already that I have to bathe and groom myself. “I can't recommend Kate enough! My doggo (Kooper) has some separation anxiety. When I reached out to Kate we discussed what her home would be like for a dog. I was a little nervous, because typically we ask sitters to come and stay at our house but decided that we would do a meet a greet to see how that went. Kate, Cody, Gus (dog), and Poe (cat) made our dog and us so comfortable. Gus and Kooper got along great and even though Koop has never been around cats, him and Poe were fast friends! Kate has a great yard for playing and her schedules allows for lots of 1:1 time with the pets. Kate was flexible, provided consistent updates, and was extremely responsive with her communications. Everything went wonderfully! Kooper was sent home happy, safe, and with a positive report card and goodies. I will definitely be connecting with Kate again about future visits!”

About: For the past 2 years I have fostered dogs through Fetch Wisconsin Rescue. With rescue dogs, I first focus on decompression, resiliency and relationship building. If you have a puppy or a rescue dog who you are just starting to build a relationship with, I can support you! In June 2023, I adopted an adolescent Alaskan Husky on an emergency basis. He & I are active learners in the Susan Garrett "Recaller" and "Wag Nation" training. If this style of games-based training sounds interesting to you, I'd love to help you build consistency and confidence in your pup! A lot of what I do with pups is informed by the Resilience Rainbow (popularized by the Behavior Vets) and pattern games (popularized by Leslie McDevitt). As a staff member with the Dane County Humane Society, I continue to grow my understanding of how to implement these practices with dogs who are new to me. I would love to contribute to your peace of mind by supporting the peace of mind of your dog while they are with me during your time "away". I work from home as a medical interpreter on the phone/video. This means that I can pepper my day with direct dog supervision and targeted practice on growing skills. I also have 3 5x5 kennels and very large crates for down time, if indicated. I would really like to consult with you about how to manage "down" time for your dog. Dogs are not allowed on the furniture at my house. I do have two resident cats, but/and they do not share spaces with the dogs I have either foster, own or care for. My house has a fenced in yard (6 foot fence). I also live very close to our recreational bike path, and if you are interested, I would be happy to talk about whether canicross or biking options are appropriate for your dog. I also live within a 5-minute drive from the Prairie Forest park, a huge wooded area where dogs can be off leash. For dogs in my care, however, I could offer the option of using a long line to take them on a sniffari in the park. I am also vetted to enroll in the Karen Pryor Academy Dog Trainer Professional program. I plan on starting my studies formally once my working dog is recovered from an acute Lyme infection. If you are interested, I could offer to work with your dog (along with video-taped sessions) as part of my studies.
